PRS INTRODUCTION

Course Overview

An introductory long range course is required prior to enrollment.

One day course developed to obtain necessary knowledge for competitive long range shooting. Pre-match process, navigation of barricades commonly seen at events and match etiquette are a few of the main topics covered. By the end of class, members will have confidence to start a journey into the competitive realm.

Brief overview of topics are as follows:

  • Pre-match planning

  • Navigating shooting props

  • Post stage process

  • Truing data

  • Match etiquette

  • Wind

  • Gear considerations

  • Pre-match and post match training tips and drills

Packing list:

  • Ammo: 250 rnds of match grade ammo of the same brand and grain weight (224 Valkyrie and up)

  • Sand sock / rear shooting bag

  • Rifle: bolt gun or accurate gas gun (1.5 moa) accuracy or better. 

  • Rifle zeroed prior to arrival

  • Mags for the rifle

  • Bipod for the rifle

  • Ballistic calculator (kestrel or AB app)

  • Binos or spotting scope (recommended)

  • Ears / Eyes protection and individual first aid kit (IFAK)

  • Tripod

  • Wet / Hot / Cold weather gear (season dependent)

  • Basic tools and cleaning kit for your rifle.

  • Range finder

  • Water, food , snacks are on you

  • Note taking material

  • Quarter back sleeve with index cards for rifle data

  • Knee pads (optional)
